Meet the Team
Jennifer Curley's team brings expertise from the White House, Congress, leading public relations and lobbying firms, and public interest groups. They have experience planning special events; conducting all levels of media relations; executing successful fundraising campaigns; and building relationships and corporate brands.
Jennifer Curley and her team are all accomplished communications professionals. Together, they deftly solve client challenges with innovative solutions.
Jennifer Curley
Jennifer Curley, Founder and President of The Curley Company, has two decades of communications, relationship building and event planning experience in both the public and private sectors.
Since founding The Curley Company in 2002, Curley has designed and implemented winning strategies for a variety of clients. She creates successful events for organizations such as the Center for Democracy and Technology, including a 900 person gala dinner with former Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, and executes a regular schedule of policy conferences on a range of subjects for ITAA (Information Technology Association of America). She provides ongoing strategic communications counsel to clients such as Expedia or Intellectual Ventures. Curley works directly with her clients on a daily basis to create compelling messages and generate opportunities to successfully educate their critical audiences. In addition, she acts as an on-the-record media spokesperson for select clients.
Prior to forming The Curley Company in 2002, Curley ran the East Coast office of VoteHere, Inc., a leading provider of electronic and online voting solutions. In this capacity she directed the lobbying, public relations, and grassroots divisions of the company, acted as a spokesperson to the media and the public, and testified before state legislative committees.
Curley also served as a Vice President at Edelman Public Relations Worldwide. During her tenure at Edelman, she implemented strategic communications programs in the areas of crisis and litigation communication, corporate reputation, message development, public policy communication, and event management. Some of her public relations clients included: Microsoft Corporation; AT&T; The FreeIM and IMUnifed Coalitions; and the Markle Foundation. A highlight of Curley’s tenure at Edelman was her management of crisis issues for Microsoft throughout the Department of Justice v. Microsoft Corporation antitrust trial in the U.S. District Court in Washington DC. She is also a recipient of the Public Relations industry 2001 Silver SABRE (Superior Excellence in Branding and Reputation) Award for the "Free Instant Messaging" campaign.
Curley also has political and policy experience in the legislative and executive branches of the federal government. During the Clinton Administration, she was a political appointee in the Protocol Office of the White House and Department of State. In this capacity, she developed and coordinated visits of foreign leaders to the United States, events for the Diplomatic Corps, and overseas visits by American delegations. Curley also spent three years working for Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (D-N.Y.), assisting him during his tenure as chairman of the Senate Finance and Environment and Public Works Committees. During the 1996 presidential election, she was Tipper Gore’s scheduler and liaison to the Clinton/Gore campaign.
In addition to consulting, Curley taught as an adjunct professor in journalism and political science at the American University Washington Semester from 2003-2006.
Curley has a master’s degree in political science from American University. She is a graduate of St. Lawrence University with a bachelor’s degree in Government, and studied at the Austro-Amerika Institute in Vienna, Austria. She served on the St. Lawrence University Board of Trustees from 1999-2003 and is a founder, board member and current Chief Financial Officer of The Foundation for Community Betterment.
Jennifer Curley lives in Potomac, MD with her husband Paul Reichert and their two daughters.
Maria Colacurcio
Maria Colacurcio, strategic partner to the Curley Company, specializes in new media marketing. Maria works with Curley Company to help clients improve communications through a combination of traditional marketing strategies with emerging digital technologies and platforms.
Prior to working with the Curley Company, Maria co-founded Smartsheet.com, an online collaboration tool with a built-in workforce. As the VP of Marketing at Smartsheet, Maria ran the marketing group and spearheaded the integration of new media technologies. She also managed online marketing strategies for the company, including the corporate Web site, PPC, SEO, social media and more traditional campaigns and programs. In addition, she developed in-depth usability campaigns for the software itself, as well as focus groups to gain feedback while developing the company’s brand platform.
For the past 10+ years, Maria has spearheaded and public relations strategies for technology companies in a variety of industries including, collaboration, human resources, insurance, CRM, and networking. Recent companies include, Onyx Software, Intellectual Ventures and Microsoft where she worked in consultant and in-house roles.
She began her career in Washington, DC working as a marketing associate for Smith, Bucklin and Associates specializing in non-profit marketing and advertising.
Maria is passionate about her family, husband Brent Frei and three daughters. She is an avid marathon runner and lives in Bellevue, Washington.

Suzanne Morrell
Suzanne Morrell, a strategic partner to the Curley Company, has been producing events for the past 15 years for chiefs of state, government officials, non-profit organizations, associations, corporations and individuals. Currently for the Curley Company, she manages the day-to-day event planning for organizations such as the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), the 2009 Annual Conference for the Committee of 100 and fundraising for 2009 Bytes & Books Presidential Inaugural Ball.
Prior to working with the Curley Company, Suzanne served as Director of Government Relations for Seeds of Peace, advocating for the organization in the Congress, the White House, government agencies, corporations, and the Diplomatic Corps.
Morrell is a former political appointee in the Department of State's Office of Protocol, where she helped implement every major Middle East peace summit held during the Clinton Administration. She managed numerous visits of chiefs of state and heads of government to the United States and coordinated high profile functions for the President, Vice President, and Secretary of State. Among her many unique assignments was spending time in Kosovo as a Diplomatic Observer on the KDOM Mission working with international observers and military forces.
Morrell received numerous awards for her work at the Department of State including Franklin Awards for outstanding duty and the Secretary’s Certificate of Recognition for service in the aftermath of the Embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.
Morrell is a founding Board Member of the International Center for Contemporary Education, a new non-profit organization focusing on training adult educators in regions of conflict. She also teaches at the Washington International School in Washington, D.C.
Morrell has an M.B.A. from George Washington University and an undergraduate degree in International Affairs, Spanish and Art from Emory University. She is a native of Orlando, FL.
Greg Wilson
Greg Wilson is a strategic partner to the Curley Company, specializing in crisis communications, corporate communications, and digital reputation management. Greg has nearly 20 years of communications experience in public relations, public affairs, government relations and lobbying. He has held positions as a corporate public affairs director, public relations consultant, registered lobbyist and congressional staffer.
Prior to working with the Curley Company, Wilson served as Senior Vice President at Levick Strategic Communications, leading the firm’s legal services practice and providing crisis counsel to companies and organizations in need. In this capacity, he managed publicity campaigns to gain media interviews for his clients to build new business through print, internet, radio and television exposure. For his crisis clients, Greg helped clients set and deliver messages, identify and train spokespeople, and manage media and internet exposure.
Wilson managed internal and external communications for a publicly traded chemical company, Solutia Inc., and was responsible for developing and executing an aggressive global public relations strategy spanning North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, as well as managing congressional and regulatory lobbying efforts. He managed business-level communications during the company’s announcement of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, as well as subsequent business reorganization announcements.
Wilson also managed a multimillion dollar account portfolio as a vice president at Shandwick Public Affairs – a leading international communications consultancy organization. His client list included Monsanto Co., Solutia Inc., the American Air Museum in Britain, U.S. English, Towers Perrin, the Paging Services Council, Sprint PCS, California Products Corporation, WKYS, the National Indian Gaming Association, AAA, and Filene’s Basement. His work has received several public relations industry awards, including the CIPRA and Bulldog awards.
In his capacity as public relations consultant, Greg has managed media and high-profile events on Capitol Hill, at the Supreme Court, and the National Press Club, as well on location with former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. He has briefed and prepared dozens of high-visibility speakers, including former Vice President Al Gore and former FEMA Director James Lee Witt, for media and business events.
Wilson began his career as a legislative and press aide on Capitol Hill for then-Representative James M. Inhofe (R-OK). In addition, he assisted Senator Robert Dole’s presidential campaign by managing surrogate media relations during the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego.
Wilson is a graduate of Hamilton College with a bachelor's degree in Public Policy, and he has completed executive education coursework in Marketing at the University of Chicago. He has served as a guest lecturer on crisis communications at Georgetown University, the University of Maryland, and Miami (Ohio) University.
Greg Wilson lives in Herndon, VA, with his wife and their three daughters.
Alicia Hartlove
Alicia Hartlove, Public Relations Associate at The Curley Company, is a specialist in public relations and event logistics.
Hartlove collaborates on events ranging from large-scale galas to conferences to intimate salon gatherings for organizations such as Center for Democracy and Technology, The Committee of 100, and TechAmerica.
Additionally, Hartlove assists with communications strategy and reputation management. She utilizes new media tools to monitor and engage journalists, bloggers and online communities for several Curley Company clients.
Prior to joining The Curley Company, Hartlove worked as a Staff Writer for The Island Gazette, a Carolina Beach, NC, newspaper where her beat was covering local business. In addition, Hartlove interned on Capitol Hill for Congresswoman Susan Davis (D-CA).
Hartlove graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland in 2009, with a bachelor’s degree in Government and Journalism.
Alicia Hartlove is a native of the Washington, DC, area.
Katie Colten
Katie Colten manages event logistics and provides administrative support for The Curley Company team. In addition she manages donor and board relations for the Foundation for Community Betterment.
Katie’s specialty is working with non-profits and managing fundraising logistics. For example, she helped organize a fundraiser at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in Washington DC, handling logistics, volunteers and RSVPs.
She is a cum laude graduate of St. Lawrence University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She has also studied in Madrid, Spain.
Katie Colten resides in Washington, DC, but calls Syracuse, NY home.
